A New Generation of Champions Crowned at the 2023 TGR JR Invitational presented by TaylorMade
For the second year, 60 junior golfers from diverse backgrounds were welcomed at Pebble Beach Resort with the opportunity to play in the TGR JR Invitational presented by TaylorMade. Over two days of fun competition at The Hay and The Links at Spanish Bay, six participants emerged as the winners of the 2023 TGR JR Invitational.
- Girls 10-12 Division: Amber Lee over Hailey Li on the second playoff hole
- Boys 10-12 Division: Dylan Hirst 2&1 over Axel Monssoh
- Girls 13-15 Division: Karina Jadhav over Sophia Lu on the second playoff hole
- Boys 13-15 Division: Aston Lim 4&3 over Julien Cho
- Girls 16-18 Division: Camille Thai 7&6 over Serena Hunter
- Boys 16-18 Division: Tyler Tabor 7&6 over Maxwell Short
With the invitation of a lifetime, the event kicked-off on October 7 with a welcome reception at The Hay. where all participants were greeted with gift bags including a custom branded TaylorMade Spider GT putter built to their individual specifications.
Among the 60 participants, four TGR Learning Lab student members were invited to compete in the fierce competition. Through the TGR Learning Lab, students of all skill levels are able to gain exposure to golf and an understanding of the STEM connections to the golf swing and sport.
The action started bright and early on Sunday, October 8 at The Hay. During the practice round, participant Holden Bautista carded hole-in-ones on the fifth and eighth holes. In total, eight junior golfers carded ones at The Hay throughout the day.Thanks in part to the nine aces, energy was high and felt throughout The Hay on Sunday, October 8. Golf personalities Tisha Alyn and Gavin Parker, and APGA pro Aaron Beverly served as starters throughout the rounds. PGA Professional Michael Block kicked off the putting round for each of the competitors as he assisted each foursome in reading the putting line.
After a day of competition, participants and chaperones enjoyed an evening to remember. An interactive Q&A session with Tiger Woods was held during the dinner where junior golfers had the opportunity to ask the event host and Hall of Fame golfer an array of questions as Tiger emphasized the importance of dedication on-and-off the course.
Monday at The Links at Spanish Bay marked the final day of competition for the TGR JR Invitational. Closing out an incredible weekend of golf, the junior golfers departed with beaming smiles, having left not only with their impressive achievements on the course but also cherished memories of a lifetime.
