The 2024 TGR JR Invitational got underway on October 11 with a welcome gathering at The Hay. Participants received gift bags including a Sun Day Red hoodie and custom-branded TaylorMade Spider Tour putters built to their individual specifications. Coca-Cola presented an epic putt contest that was held on the first hole at The Hay and challenged the junior golfers to putt a hole-in-one from the tee.
The competitive spirits were high on Sunday, October 12 as the junior golfers played a practice round on The Hay followed by rounds 1, 2 and 3 featuring a mix of nine holes at The Hay and round 2’s nine-hole putting course. Throughout the day, participants were greeted by golf sensations including collegiate stars Rachel Heck and Megha Ganne, APGA Tour Pro Chase Johnson and PGA instructor and golf personality Maiya Tanaka.
Following a full day of competition, participants and chaperones enjoyed an evening to remember. Two more special guests added to the festivities as Max Homa, fresh off a Presidents Cup victory, and Gary Woodland, the 2019 U.S. Open Champion, joined Heck, Ganne, Johnson and Pebble Beach SVP of Golf John Sawin on an interactive panel discussion and Q&A session. The junior golfers had the opportunity to ask questions to the panel that span from junior golf to collegiate competition, to professional tribulations and victories, careers in golf management and much more.
As Sunday turned to Monday, the festive energy was channeled back into competitive juices. The Links at Spanish Bay marked the final day of competition for the TGR JR Invitational as championship matches teed off followed by consolation matches. The weekend closed out a once-in-a-lifetime experience full of great work, huge smiles and memories that will be cherished for a lifetime.
With the support of TaylorMade as the event’s presenting, supporting sponsor Coca-Cola and contributors including Bel Air Country Club’s Friends of Golf and other generous donors, the TGR JR Invitational provides junior golfers with an unforgettable experience featuring competitive golf in a fun, yet purpose-driven, environment at Pebble Beach.
